Hurihia tō aroaro ki te rā – Turn Your Face to the Sun

Hurihia tō aroaro ki te rā – Turn Your Face to the Sun

In times like these—when the world feels heavy, fast, and forever demanding—it’s easy to get caught in the rush.

To carry too much.

To forget to simply be.

But nature reminds us, in her quiet wisdom, that there is always time to pause.

That there is healing in stillness.

That we can choose where we place our attention.

“Hurihia tō aroaro ki te rā, tukuna tō ataarangi ki muri i a koe.”

Turn your face to the sun and let your shadow fall behind you.

This whakataukī is more than just words—it’s a gentle nudge to return to what matters.

To lean into the warmth. To let go of the burdens we weren’t meant to carry alone.

We believe the moments that matter most are often the simplest ones.

Five quiet minutes with a cup of tea.

A slow breath taken in the morning light.

Sitting with your tamariki or mokopuna as they tell you about their day.

Sharing laughter around the table with whānau.

Letting your body move freely to music that stirs your soul.

Or perhaps it’s walking barefoot on the grass, listening to the birds, and letting your senses be filled by the taiao.

These are not small things—they are everything.

They remind us of who we are. They bring us home.

PAUSE for Tea was never just about crafting a drink.

It was always about creating a doorway—into stillness, into connection, into wellness.

We’ve poured that intention into every can, so that each sip becomes a ritual: to reconnect, to reset, to return to yourself and your world with calm.

So wherever you are today, give yourself permission to stop.

To feel the sun on your face.

To let the shadows fall behind you.

To listen to the music, the laughter, the wind in the trees.

To hold close what fills your heart and release what does not serve.

Ngā aroha,

The PAUSE for Tea whānau

Refresh. Reconnect. Be well.
