Wellness your way

Wellness your way

Mā te rongo, ka mōhio; mā te mōhio, ka mārama; mā te mārama, ka mātau; mā te mātau, ka ora.”

“Through listening comes knowledge, through knowledge comes understanding, through understanding comes wisdom, through wisdom comes well-being.”

If It’s Important to You, It’s Part of Your Wellness

We often think of wellness as something external—going to the gym, eating organic, or practicing mindfulness. But true wellness isn’t just about ticking off a checklist of healthy habits. It’s about what genuinely matters to you.

Wellness is Personal

What brings one person balance and joy may not work for another. Some find wellness in movement—running, yoga, or dancing—while others find it in stillness, through reading, art, or deep conversations. For some, wellness means connection to whakapapa, culture, or time in nature.

The key is understanding that if something is important to you, it’s part of your wellness.

Honour What Nourishes You

Wellness isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, mental, and spiritual. When we prioritize what truly matters, we nourish ourselves at a deeper level. If time with whānau, creativity, or quiet moments with a cup of tea are what fill your cup, those are just as essential as any workout or diet plan.

Some things may seem mundane—paying bills, cleaning out the fridge, sorting emails—but these acts of completion clear mental clutter, creating space for clarity and ease. When we put off small tasks, they pile up in the background of our minds, draining energy we don’t even realize we’re losing. Taking care of these seemingly simple things is a form of self-care, lifting the weight of unfinished business and restoring a sense of control.

A Simple Practice: Check In With Yourself

Ask yourself:

  • What makes me feel grounded?

  • What energizes me?

  • What small thing brings me joy?

  • What tasks, once completed, would make me feel lighter?

Then, create space for those things. Whether it’s setting boundaries, saying no to what drains you, or making time for what fuels you, remember—your wellness is not a trend, it’s what makes you feel whole.

Wellness, Your Way

At PAUSE for Tea, we believe in slowing down and reconnecting - to self, to others, and to the whenua. However wellness looks for you, honour it. Whether it’s a deep breath, a tidy space, or finishing a long-postponed task, if it’s important to you, it’s part of your wellness.

So, what will you prioritize today?
